CHENNAI : DMDK founder president Vijaykant today announced that his party MLAs will contribute one month’s salary to the relief fund set up by the Centre for providing succour to lakhs of people affected by the natural calamity of floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement here , the actor-turned politician said the calamity in that state, referred to as ‘paradise on eath’ which has claimed lakhs of lives and devasted homes, was indeed heartrending.
Observing that India was a country where ‘unity in diversity’ has been part of its culture, Mr Vijaykant also appealed to industrialiss, traders, youth and other sections of the people to contribute to the relief fund set up by the Centre. (AGENCIES)
