JAMMU, Nov 9: J&K Ex-Policemen League projected the burning issues of the retired Police personnel.
A meeting of the League was held here today under the chairmanship of Shamsher Bhagat, general secretary of the Association wherein, the speakers demanded appointment of Nodal Officer in the Police department for the resolution of the issues of retired Police personnel and also setting up of Grievances Cell for them.
They pointed out that League was projecting issue with regard to removal of pay anomalies of various Police Non-Gazetted cadres for the last several years but the concerned authorities have failed to address this issue. Even the representations were sent to the Home and Finance departments on several occasions, they added.
They further demanded enhancement of Medical allowance of the serving and retired employees from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month, enhancement of scholarship of meritorious children of policemen, ensure good participation of retired policemen in Police Welfare Meets being held at Srinagar and Jammu etc.
The League stated that the families of the Police martyrs should be paid special attention to see that they are adequately compensated, rehabilitated and benefitted. Moreover, compassionate appointments of the wards of police men be made in shortest possible time. The members also demanded to raise the amount granted for the last rites of the retired policemen out of the Police Welfare Fund.
Besides Bhagat, several other members of the League also spoke on the occasion and projected their issues.
