J&K: HPM launches cleanliness drive

JAMMU, August 5: The Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing launched “Special Cleanliness Drive” under Swachta Abhiyaan in all Fruit & Vegetable markets across Union Territory of J&K today wherein Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing J&K Government led the Cleanliness Drive at Fruit & Vegetable Market Narwal Jammu along-with Officers of the Department, President Fruit Association, Sh. Davinder Gupta and President Vegetable Association, S. Surinder Singh by taking the brooms to sweep the Mandi Premises and cleaning up the garbage.
The Swachta Abhiyaan was launched simultaneously in all the F&V Markets across the Union Territory of J&K and led by Senior Officer(s) of the Department viz., Rajouri led by Joint Director Sh. Digvijay Gupta, Parimpora by Deputy Director Kashmir, Sh. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Udhampur by Deputy Director Jammu, Ms. Naheed Mir, Shopian by Deputy Director (Central), Mr. Ayaz Natnoo and Kathua by Assistant Director(s)
Speaking on the occasion, Director Vishesh Mahajan said that a clean Mandi premises would be a small tribute that could be paid to the Father of the Nation to fulfil his dream of a clean and hygienic India. He focussed on sense of responsibility among the people to participate actively in cleanliness drive across the Union Territory and urged the Mandi Functionaries to come forward, contribute to the clean Mandi Drive and make the Swachta Abhiyaan a huge success. He issued on spot directions to the concerned officers / officials to ensure that the Mandies should always remain neat and clean as hygienic fruits & vegetables are the Buzzword to be healthy.
