SRINAGAR, Aug 25: A day after the CWC has extended the term of Sonia Gandhi as Congress president, the entire senior leadership of Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed the decision and expressed full faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi.
A meeting of senior leaders including delegates of AICC from J and K and PCC, former ministers and legislators, and functionaries of PCC and district presidents of the party was held at Srinagar PCC office under the chairmanship of PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
The leaders welcomed and fully endorsed the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and expressed gratitude to Gandhi for accepting to continue to discharge the important responsibility at this crucial phase, when the country is faced with many challenges.
The Congress leaders recalled the special bonds of the Nehru- Gandhi leadership with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh which was always maintained and continued by the present leadership and the Congress workers of this region have special regards and respects for the family for standing up to the numerous difficult situations, at times, faced by the people of this part. Expressing full faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, the leaders said that the party workers look forward for her able guidance at this crucial phase of identity crisis faced by the people of the erstwhile historical state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Another resolution moved by senior Congress leader and former Legislator Gulzar Ahmad Wani expressing full faith in the leadership of JKPCC chief Gulam Ahmad Mir, who resolutely and through consensus is leading the Party, was unanimously adopted by all the party leaders, who were present in the meeting.
The leaders also resolved to reprimand any JK Congressman questioning the leadership of PCC chief and indulging in indiscipline by any mode.
Meanwhile, the entire leadership of Jammu region have also unanimously expressed their full faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and expressed gratitude to her for accepting the decision of the CWC last evening, after detailed deliberations. The senior leaders including senior functionaries of the party and former minister and legislators besides district presidents and frontal heads of the party have fully endorsed the wise decision of CWC yesterday and extended full support for the crucial role of the party at this juncture.
