SRINAGAR, Nov 1: The J&K team emerged as Overall Champion, winning 8 medals – 4 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze – demonstrating dominance in both boys’ and girls’ categories during the 69th National School Games in Wushu (U-17), organized by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K.
Among the standout performers, Jiya Manhas (Girls 48 kg) clinched Gold and was adjudged Best Female Player. In boys’ categories, Gold medals were won by Mohd Arhaan Parray (70 kg), Suryansh Singh (65 kg), and Mohd Haseeb Sheikh (80 kg). Silver medals went to Kapish Bharat Rakwal (52 kg) and Rutba Shabir (65 kg, Girls).
Other notable champions included Anushka Dattatraya Jain (Maharashtra, 45 kg), Bhaumika (Chandigarh, 52 kg), Sakshi Pushpakar (UP, 56 kg), Himani (Rajasthan, 60 kg), Almas Ali Khan (Rajasthan, 65 kg), Riya Mishra (Rajasthan, 70 kg) in girls, and Gulshan Kumar (Delhi, 45 kg), Nikhil (Delhi, 48 kg), Shaurya (UP, 52 kg – Best Boy Player), Mayank Roza (UP, 56 kg), Anshul Bhati (UP, 60 kg), Anshuman (Rajasthan, 75 kg) in boys.
The championship concluded with a closing ceremony honouring officials and athletes, highlighting J&K’s growing stature in national sports.
