J&K branch organizes interactive meet with ICAI president

JAMMU, Feb 23: The J&K Branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized an interactive meet with ICAI president and Central Council members of Northern Region. A workshop on Indirect Taxes was also conducted on the occasion.
CA Atul Kumar Gupta, president ICAI was the chief guest and Prof BS Sahay, Director IIM Jammu was the guest of honour on the occasion along with former Minister Sat Sharma.
Earlier in the day, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICAI and IIM Jammu. The MoU aims to envisage joint research and mutual co-operation between both premier institutes for offering and co-hosting open-enrolment and customized training programs exclusively for Chartered Accountants.
CA Atul Gupta, while addressing the members, shared his vision and stressed upon acquiring new skills in the changing technological scenario. He also addressed the CA students in an interactive session and inaugurated a “Wall of Fame” and android mobile application for members of J&K branch of ICAI.
Dr Ashok Batra and CA Navya Malhotra were the guest speakers for the workshop.
In the first technical session, Dr Ashok Batra discussed the recent developments in GST and Input Tax Credit. In the second technical session, CA Navya Malhotra gave a detailed point wise presentation on new Returns under GST.
Earlier, CA Shalay Razdan, chairman of the J&K branch of ICAI, presented welcome address. CA Nakul Saraf, secretary of the Branch conducted the proceedings and CA Lalit Kumar Gupta, vice-chairman of the Branch presented formal vote of thanks.
Central Council members namely CA Hansraj Chugh, CA Pramod Jain and CA Rajesh Sharma, Vinay Jamwal (treasurer of the J&K Branch), CA Arvind Jamwal (chairman JKASA) along with number of CAs and CA students were also present on the occasion.
