JAMMU, Feb 10: First time in its history, the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been awarded with second best branch under medium category across all the branches in the country.
The award was presented by chief guest (CA) Arun Singh (MP Rajya Sabha) to the branch representatives Lalit Kumar Gupta (chairman), Shalay Razdan (past chairman) and Nakul Saraf (secretary) in presence of Atul Kumar Gupta (president ICAI) and Prafulla Chhajed (past president), at 71st annual function of the Institute organized at Gurugram.
ICAI presents awards annually to the best performing branches across all regions under various categories, taking into consideration various parameters of excellence in performance.
Under the chairmanship of Lalit Kumar Gupta, the branch successfully conducted numerous continuing professional education programs of over 100 CPE hours, both through virtual as well as physical mode, where national and international speakers participated in deliberations
The branch conducted various courses for students like orientation programs, general management and communication skills, integrated & advanced integrated course on information technology and soft skills in which students from all over India registered and benefitted.
The J&K branch also executed various social sector initiatives such as plantation drive, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, distribution of Covid-19 material under CSR, distribution of literacy kits and donating clothes to the needy students.
The branch in association with PDC, ICAI entered into MoU with IIM Jammu for conduct of short term management courses/programs for its members. The branch is also in the process of signing an MoU with the education department of JKUT for mentoring of vocational and skill development courses.
Further, the branch also contributed in opening of representative offices of ICAI at Srinagar and Leh under the dynamic leadership of president ICAI.
The Branch also held a national student conference and virtual sub regional conference for the first time. It also organized a mega seminar in Srinagar in which leaders of profession participated from all over India. For the first time, a camp bench of ITAT was also organized recently at the branch premises in Jammu.
