J&K administers record over 1.25 lakh COVID vaccine doses in single day

Srinagar, Aug 31: J&K today administered over 1.25 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses which are the highest since the launch of vaccination across the Union Territory since January this year.
As per officials, 64863 vaccination doses were administered in Kashmir Division on August 31 across 1189 vaccination sites; while 60832 doses were given in the Jammu region during the day across nearly 700 vaccination sites.
During the day, as per details, in Kashmir, the highest numbers of COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in Anantnag district with 12502 beneficiaries receiving their vaccine shot followed by Baramulla where over 11900 beneficiaries received the jab.
In Jammu Division, district Jammu recorded the highest number of vaccine doses administered as over 26000 beneficiaries received their COVID vaccine shot followed by Kathua where over 9000 beneficiaries got the vaccine.
State Immunization Officer Dr Shahid Hussain told EXCELSIOR that the numbers are the highest ever so far across the Union Territory and are likely to witness an increase in the days to come.
Further, as per the details, during the day across the Kashmir Division, 23 HCWs received their second dose of vaccine, 13 FLWs received their first dose of the vaccine, 84 FLWs received their second jab. At the same time, 1073 citizens above 45 years of age received their first vaccine jab, 11651 citizens above 45 years of age received their second vaccine jab
As many as 47439 beneficiaries falling in the age group of 18-44 received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine, while 4040 people under the same age group received their second Covishield jab.
At the same time, 470 people falling under the age group of 18-44 received the first dose of Covaxin while 70 such people received their second dose of the vaccine.
In Jammu Division, 13 HCWs got their second vaccine jab, 73 FLWs received their second dose, 4659 citizens above 45 years had the first jab while 12809 under the same age group received their second vaccine dose.
On the other hand, 35132 beneficiaries falling in the age group of 18-44 received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine, while 6828 people under the same age group got their second Covishield jab.
1118 people in the Jammu Division falling under the age group of 18-44 were administered the first dose of Covaxin while 200 such people received their second dose of the vaccine.
About the overall progress in the vaccination, 67% population of above 18 years have received their first vaccine jab while as around 17% of the 18 and above population have been fully vaccinated across the Union Territory.
