JJSF’s fast for student martyrs concludes with performing Havan

JAMMU, Oct 18: On third and last day of its fast as mark of respect for the student martyrs of 1966, who had sacrificed their lives for the Jammu cause, the Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) founder members, office bearers, students, staff and other prominent dignitaries today performed Havana for the peace of the departed souls.
A number of JJSF volunteers, led by Pushvinder Singh Manhas (State President JJSF) and Atul Sudan, State Vice President JJSF paid floral tributes to the student martyrs and then performed Havana at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College.
Addressing the gathering Atul Sudan said it was shameful that the cause for which the four students sacrificed their lives was still unfinished and discrimination with Jammu students was going on. He said education is the right of every student and JJSF will fight tooth and nail for this cause. He warned the administration to be ready to face the anger of students if they fail to give admissions to all the aspirants.
Pushvinder Singh, in his address, said that in 1966, the then Government tried to shift the Agriculture College from Jammu to Kashmir (Sopore) and the students of GGM Science College started the agitation against that move of the Government.
Others who addressed the gathering, included Hari Dutt Sishu (JJSF Founder Member), Pratap Singh Jamwal (former JJSF leader), Harpreet Singh, Vasu Dev Singh, Arun Dev Singh, Sunil Singh Chauhan, Rahul Sharma (President GDC Samba), Ayush Singh (President GDC Akhnoor), Harjot Singh (President GDC RS Pura), Divyansh (President SKAUST), Manav (President GDC Khour), Deepak Singh (President GDC Sidhra) and others.
