JAMMU, Mar 10: Intensifying their agitation for online examinations in Jammu University, JJSF activists of GDC Samba, GDC Hiranagar and GDC Kathua today held protest demonstrations in their respective colleges.
Shouting slogans, they were demanding online examination for all semesters of Under Graduate students. The protest in Samba was led by Rahul Sharma, General Secretary JJSF while Harjot Singh (secretary JJSF) led the protest in GDC Hiranagar and Anshu Sharma (General Secretary JJSF) led the protest in GDC Kathua.
While addressing the protesting students, Rahul Sharma said that the whole semester study was conducted through online mode and now University administration was forcing them to appear in offline examination for 3rd and 5th Semester which was totally injustice and unacceptable. He said students of all colleges under Jammu University have rejected this decision of offline examinations and are demanding online examinations.
Harjot Singh said that they were not prepared for the offline examinations as all their classes were held online because of Covid pandemic. “Online classes had certain limitations and disadvantages, particularly because of internet problem in border areas and hence we are not prepared for the offline exams,” he explained.
Anshu Sharma informed that JJSF office bearers today visited Samba and Kathua districts to mobilise the students against the alleged dictatorship of Jammu University. He alleged that the University administration avoided offline classes even when situation was normal but is now forcing students to appear in offline exams which is clear harassment of students.
“In the coming days, we will approach students of Khour, Akhnoor, Mishriwala, Udhampur and Reasi to strengthen this agitation,” he said, adding that from coming Tuesday, this agitation for online exams will be started in all colleges functional under Jammu University.
