KARGIL, Nov 10: After the launch of services in Himalayan town of Kargil in Ladakh, Jio now extended its footprints in the remotest frontier of Zanskar.
The services were launched by MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, while Councillor Cha Stanzin Lakpa, Nominated Councilor Stanzin Chosgyal, Head Jio Kashmir and Ladakh Shehzan Hameed, Area Development Officer/SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, Construction Head Jio Sandeep Kotwal, Sales Head Jio Ladakh Basharat Sufi, Sub Divisional Officers, prominent citizens and local people were present on the occasion.
Known for its highest motorable road in the world, Zanskar and surrounding areas are located across Great Himalayas range with first trace of human activity going as far as the Bronze Age with many aspects still preserved in pristine ancient form.
Jio has so far covered 15 towns and villages in Leh and 22 towns and villages across Kargil and the two towns Pibteen and Padium will have Jio as the first private operator.
Jio will also be the first operator to have its network presence in areas like Gyaling, Umba, Abran, Akshow, Rangdum, Sangra, Kachan and Parkachik.
With this launch, Jio now earns the distinction of being the only operator offering both voice and 4G data services in 10 towns and areas of Kargil.
Besides in line with the Reliance vision for the future “to have clean and green energy”, majority of Jio’s base stations will be powered by solar energy which reduces the dependence on conventional fuel and make optimum use of renewable natural resources.
