Jewellery shop employee held with stolen gold ornaments, cash

JAMMU, Feb 12: Police arrested an employee of a jewellery shop and recovered stolen gold ornaments and cash from his possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jammu Mohan Lal Kaith said that on February 2 a written complainant was lodged at police post Pouni Chak by a Jewellery shop owner Atul Puri, son of Madan Lal of Gho Manhasa that Shanker Parmanik, son of Madhu Sudhan Parmanik of Chak Sultan, district Madnia, West Bengal was working at his jewellery shop at Gho Manhasa for the past over a decade and handles all the matters related to the shop including keys of the shop.
The complainant stated that on January 31, his employee closed the shop and carried the keys with him. Next day, he (complainant) found that Shanker Parmanik was not present in his room and after opening the shop with spare keys, found that his employee had taken away golden ornaments weighing around 1 kilogram and huge amount of cash, ASP said.
On this information, a case under relevant Section was registered at police station Domana and investigation was entrusted to SI Shamim Ahmed, incharge police post Pouni Chak, Mr Kaith added.
During the course of investigation, SI Shamim Ahmed apprehended the accused from his native place and recovered gold ornaments weighing 860 grams and cash worth Rs 2,15,000 on his disclosure, he maintained.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
