SRINAGAR, Dec 17: Fearing stagnation, scores of Junior Engineers working in various departments demanding promotion against the 253 posts vacant in different departments today held protest in Srinagar.
They alleged that the Government is mulling to direct requirements at the available posts and demanded that they should be promoted to next level.
A group of Junior Engineers today assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar and protested against the Government move to induct the Assistant Engineers directly and said such step would plunge their careers into stagnation.
“Public Service Commission has short listed the candidates for direct recruitment and the selected candidates will be placed above us in the seniority list. Most of the short listed candidates are the 90s born and we will have no future to get promoted to higher posts. We are going through mental trauma”, Niyaz Ahamd, a Junior engineer said.
The engineers have been appointed as Junior Engineer (Civil), State cadre in Public Works (R&B) department vide Govt Order No. 209 PW(R&B) of 2009S dated 17.09.2009 and have become eligible for one post higher (Assistant Engineer) on 19.09.2012 as three years of service is mandatory for the said promotion.
