Jehangir Mir inaugurates International Mushaira

NEW DELHI, Sept 6: Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Jehangir Mir today inaugurated an International Mushaira (Jashn-e-Adab) at India International Centre (IIC) here.
A galaxy of poets included Padambushan Gopaldas Neeraj, Padamshree Dr. Ashok Chakradhar, Farhat Ehsas, Fayyaz Farooq, Dr. Kunwar Bechain and Kishwar Naheed participated in mushaira and recited their verses.
Interacting with poets, Mir lauded their efforts in keeping literature alive in the society.
Releasing a Braille-enable book of Dr. Ashok Chakdardhar and Bashir Badr, Mir appreciated the efforts of author Rohit Kumar in making Badr the world of poetry inclusive by enabling the differently abled people to read and write poetry.
The Deputy Chairman said poetry provides exposure to human emotions, pain, sorrow and happiness, saying that such events in an ultra busy society of today help in understanding human pain and suffering apart from being a source of entertainment.
