Jeera futures edge higher on spot demand

NEW DELHI, June 15:Jeera prices were higher by Rs 95 to Rs 16,740 per quintal in futures trade today as investors enlarged their bets tracking higher export and spot demand.

Furthermore, restricted arrivals from growing regions also supported the jeera futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July was trading higher Rs 95, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 16,740 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,367 lots.

The contract for August delivery was trading at Rs 16,830, up by 0.41 per cent, or Rs 70. The open interest of the contract stood at 165 lots.

Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid rising domestic as well as export demand led to the rise in jeera prices. (PTI)
