JAMMU, Aug 11: A delegation from the Jammu East Citizens Forum (JECF), led by its president Anu Rajesh Gupta, met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to address several pressing public concerns in the region.
Anu Gupta emphasized the need to grant ownership rights to evacuee property tenants, some of whom have resided in these properties for 76 years. She also urged the removal of premiums on additional constructions and called for the maintenance of these properties until ownership rights are fully conferred.
On security matters, Gupta advocated for the issuance of gun licenses in Jammu after proper verification, considering the prevailing situation in J&K.
To honor local legends, she proposed renaming the Mini Stadium Parade after Sher-e-Duggar Pt Prem Nath Dogra, a respected leader and football player from the region. She also pushed for the revival of a football tournament initiated in his name by the late MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta.
The delegation also highlighted infrastructural challenges, including the urgent need for the parking project at Bawa Lal Ji Chowk and near Hari Singh Park to reduce traffic congestion. Gupta proposed developing the Jammu Municipal Corporation Market at Sabzi Mandi on a PPP model, similar to Palika Bazar.
Concerns were also raised about the delay in road blacktopping and the need for a flyover from Jewel Chowk to Canal Head. Gupta stressed the importance of moving forward with the Raghunath Temple project, which has already been approved by the Assembly.
Other members of the delegation, including Forum Chairman Parshotam Gupta, Karan Singh, Brijesh Gupta, Kuldeep Khandari, Varun Khajuria, Rajinder Tickoo, Rohit Sharma and Manav Mahajan, voiced their concerns. Parshotam Gupta emphasized the need for adequate pensions for widows, ensuring their financial security. Karan Singh requested simplifying the verification process for pension cases.
LG assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed, and necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issues, marking a positive step towards addressing development challenges in Jammu East.
