UDHAMPUR, Sept 11: A team consisting of students, faculty member and centre director from JD Fashion Design Institute (JDFDI), Jammu visited Women Entrepreneurship Development Training Center at Kotharu village in Lower Kud Panchayat (Chenani) and has undertaken a project for uplifting the economic condition of 100 village women in collaboration with IL&FS, JKSRLM, JKWDC and JKEDI.
Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative “Parivartan”, IL&FS is implementing social welfare programme in education, health, livelihood and skill training for the village community in the catchment area of the “Chenani – Nashri Tunnelway project.
During the FY 2015-16, they have planned to train 100 village women in the fields like quilt work/quilt bag making, fancy jute bag making etc in collaboration with JKSRLM, JKWDC and JKEDI so that these women can earn income at the village level.
Maansi Gupta, Director, JD Fashion Design Institute, said, “The marketing of the products from initial stage itself is the most important aspect for making this initiative successful. The marketing of products would be possible only if the products are well designed and attractive to the targeted buyers. In this regard, JD Fashion Design Institute, Jammu, would be helping at various stages of product development from designing to commercial viability. The products hence developed by the institute and manufactured by the village women would be displayed at Mumbai”.
