JAMMU, June 13: A delegation of Jammu Doctors Forum (JDF) comprising of Dr C L Gupta (patron), Dr Satya Dev Gupta (president), Dr Gurjeet Singh (vice president) and Dr Dushyant Choudhary (general secretary) today met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu in his office and handed over a memorandum based on problems faced by the medical fraternity.
During the meeting, the delegation members told the Divisional Commissioner, that the medical profession is full of vulnerabilities. “When a doctor is performing his duties there is always a likelihood that some unforeseen incidents may happen. Such incidents in medical field have happened in the past and shall happen in the future that too in spite of best hands, best facilities and in the best part of the world”, they added.
The Divisional Commissioner was apprised of the fact that a fear psychosis has spread into the medical fraternity and treating doctors at large. Thereon, medical professionals are very much scared of treating the patients that too if some patient is serious and under high risks.
“If the doctors remain in fear, put behind the bars and harassed with only frivolous reasons and mere instigation by the mob and political vendors, then what could be the fate of health care in the society?”, the delegation members told the Divisional Commissioner.
The delegation members laid the stress for improvement of deteriorating doctor- patient relationship and implementation of Supreme Court’s ruling in true spirits, so that a doctor should not look at every patient as a litigant.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the doctors that he shall keep a vigilant eye on doctor’s safety and security.
