JAMMU, Oct 13: Describing action of  Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on the Jammu Bus Stand and Ware House traders two days ago as unwarranted and unjustified,  Chamber of  Traders Federation (CTF) has demanded impartial inquiry and action against the officials responsible for it.
Addressing a press conference here today  Neeraj Anand, president of the Federation condemned the unwarranted action of JDA  and others on Ware House and Bus Stand shopkeepers.
Anand said that it is really strange and deplorable that some departments like Food, JDA and Municipal Corporation lying in hibernation for most part of the year, suddenly come to life during the festive season only.
He urged upon the concerned Ministers and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to restrain all those departments who have become habitual of harassing the small shopkeepers at the Festive time of the year.” He warned these departments to desist from such adventurous acts. For smooth implementation of orders they should take heads of the Trade organizations into confidence.
Earlier, in the meeting of different association heads related with the Diwali Festival convened here yesterday, Anand appreciated the voluntary  compliance shown by all and called upon them to maintain highest standard of ethical practices in their respective trade  especially during the Festival days. “They should strictly follow the rules and regulations to earn the good will of the customers by providing them only genuine, pure and reasonably priced goods”, he said.
Anand also cautioned those fly by night sellers who bring bad name to the Jammu traders by dumping all sort of unhygienic, spurious and inferior material in the market at lower prices, and asked the concerned Departm-ents to strictly deal with such unscrupulous outsiders.
He said already reeling under the adverse impact of demonetization and GST implementation, competition from e-commerce behemoths, the traders are facing a tough time to even touch 25% of the sale volumes as compared to earlier years.
He urged upon the  Chief Minister to give a serious thought and address the issue of abolition of Toll Tax on goods at the earliest.  Otherwise, traders shall be left with no option but to come on the roads.
Prominent among those present in the conference included,   Kailash Nath Nagar (vice president),  Dinesh Gupta (President Electrical Dealers Association, Nek Ram Sharma (President Halwai Association),  Shiv Kumar Gupta (President Jammu Bakers Association) and  Jyoti Gupta ( President Retail Dry Fruit Traders Association).
