JCO killed in accidental fire

Srinagar, Apr 30: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was killed allegedly in an accidental fire at Langate area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
Police said JCO namely Jai Prakash Singh of army’s 30 Rashtriya Rifles posted at Langate Army camp received a serious bullet wound in his head while performing his duties.
“After hearing gunshot, his colleague rushed towards him where he was found lying in a pool of blood and took him to nearby medical room for treatment,” the police said. He was later airlifted to Army’s 92 base Hospital here for specialized treatment where he succumbed.
The deceased was 55 year old resident of Shivpur village in Shambaha Ganj area of Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. An Army spokesman also said the deceased died as a result of an accidental fire.
