SRINAGAR, Aug 7: Accusing State Government of being non-serious towards their demands, the employees’ Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) today announced fresh protest programme including march to Chief Minister’s residence at Gupkar in Srinagar.
The JCC, an amalgam of the State’s Employees’ Unions, called for a two-day protest calendar programme on August 22 and 23 to press for their pending demands.
While addressing a press conference here, the JCC leaders Abdul Qayoom Wani, Abdul Gafoor Dar and Rauf Ahmad Bhat gave an ultimatum to the State Government that in case their demands are not fulfilled by August 22, they will launch a decisive phase of agitation against the Government.
Wani said that on August 22, thousands of employees will assemble at SK Park here and will march peacefully towards the residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. On the same day, employees of Civil Secretariat led by Rouf Ahmad Bhat will stage protests inside the premises the Secretariat. And in Jammu, he said, employees led by JCC leader Gafoor Dar will stage protests outside the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
“On August 23, there will be a complete strike in all Government offices including Civil Secretariat and Public Sector Undertakings,” Wani, said.
Calling the police action on protesting employees as undemocratic, unwarranted and tyrannical”, the JCC leaders said by using force on the peaceful marches can’t keep the employees away from speaking for their demands which are just and democratic.
