JAMMU, July 13: Prominent social and political activist, Jayesh Gupta expressed strong objection to the proposed Sua No. 1 Toll Plaza on Akhnoor road.
In a press conference here today Gupta expressed serious concern over the potential hardship this new Toll Plaza would bring to the people of the region, particularly daily commuters.
He assured the public that he will take up the issue with relevant authorities to seek an immediate and comprehensive review of the plan.
“The proposed Toll Plaza is located just 20 to 22 km from the existing Sohanjana Toll Plaza on Ring Road,” Gupta maintained adding: “Such close proximity between Toll Plazas is not only unreasonable but also unfair for the common man who is already facing rising fuel and transport costs.”
He expressed confidence that the Central Government, known for its pro-public policies, would review the matter and take steps that prioritize public welfare, equity and convenience.
