JAMMU, May 28: Shri Jawala Ji Samiti, Khrew Kashmir has taken strong exception to encroachment of 10 kanals of land belonging to the Jawala Ji Shrine at Khrew in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, today M K Raina, president of the Samiti said that repeated attempts were made by the unscrupulous elements and land grabbers from time to time during last 28 years of turmoil and after the mass exodus of Pandits from the Valley to grab the land of the Jawala Ji shrine which is the presiding deity of Kashmiri Pandits.
He said though these attempts were earlier foiled but this time the land mafia active in the area has managed to fence the 10 kanals of land belonging to holy shrine.
He said the Samiti has taken up the issue with J&K Dharmarth Trust, District Administration Pulwama and Union Home Ministry.
Raina sought immediate intervention of the Dharmarth Trust and administration in the matter and restoration of the land to holy shrine. He said no construction will be allowed on the land of the shrine.
He said it is unfortunate that the land grabbers have done the act in the holy month of Ramzan which is one of the pious months in Islam and preaches brotherhood and peace. He expressed the hope that the Muslim scholars will prevail upon the land grabbers in the area and warn them against grabbing the religious properties of minorities left over in the Valley.
