Javadekar announces Rs 100 cr for research infrastructure in NIT Srinagar

JAMMU:  Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar today announced Rs 100 crore for setting up of research infrastructure at Srinagar based NIT, besides upgradation of higher and technical education institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.

”I want to make two important announcements being here in Jammu region to further improve higher and technical education across the state,” Mr Javadekar said while addressing the gathering after laying foundation of IIT Jammu in Roopnagar area here this morning.

”NIT Srinagar is doing well and to improve it further, we have plans of investing Rs 100 crore to improve facility and Research Infrastructure at NIT Srinagar,” he said.

He further said apart from this, all higher and technical education centres in Jammu and Kashmir will also be upgraded further.

”Under Technical Education Upgradation Programme, an initiative of Government with focus on Kashmir, technical education infrastructure will be further upgraded and strengthened,” he said.

On ‘Make In India’, the Union Minister said, ”It is all about research. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inviting talents of India in multi-national abroad.”

”He (PM) is asking them (NRIs) to come innovate, invest in ‘Make In India’ and say with pride ‘Made In India’,” he asserted.

”These are two gifts, wanted to give to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he maintained (AGENCIES)
