Jatt Sabha demands employment package, OBC benefits for youth

JAMMU, Mar 24: All Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha has demanded an employment package for the youth of the Jatt community, displaced persons, and refugees of the erstwhile state.
A meeting of the Sabha was organised at village Sai Kalan, Suchetgarh, in RS Pura of Jammu district. It was chaired by the president of the Jatt Sabha and former Minister, Manjit Singh, who was accompanied by senior Jatt leaders.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on the issues faced by the younger generation of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Jatts, displaced persons, and refugees.
Manjit Singh said this community has been neglected socially, economically, and politically, and require special attention.
“The Jatts, displaced persons, and refugees have been facing political, social, and economic crises for decades. Hence, youth from these communities should be provided employment under a special package in defence, paramilitary forces, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police,” he demanded.
Former MP and Chief Patron Talok Singh Bajwa also addressed the gathering and demanded Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation benefits for Jatt youth in central government jobs and professional educational institutions.
He further demanded that the issues of refugees be addressed by releasing the pending package in their favour. He stated that one package of Rs 5.5 lakh had been released, while the remaining amount is yet to be disbursed.
Senior Jatt leader Ch Sukhnandan said that the border belt deserves equitable development and basic amenities for its inhabitants. Former DDC and senior Jatt leader Taranjit Singh Tony demanded the installation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s statue in Kathua and Jammu districts.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ch Jagar, Ch Naresh Bittu, Dwarka Choudhary, Kamal Randhawa, Ch Jarnail Singh, Ch Rashpal Johal, former DDC Geetu Aulakh former Sarpanch Reena Choudhary, Sushma Choudhary and others.
