JAMMU, Sept 3: Jat Kalyan Sabha, J&K, has demanded compensation for the border dwellers, who became the victim of continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference, Kamal Singh, President, Jat Kalyan Sabha, J&K, said that the lives of border dwellers have been shattered due to continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
He condemned the unprovoked firing by Pakistan in which innocent people got killed and injured. He added that due to firing, houses, live stock and crops suffered heavy losses. Studies of border residents children have also suffered badly, he stated.
“Though our security forces are giving befitting reply to Pakistan but we appeal to Government of India to give stern warning to Pakistan to refrain from ceasefire violations and infiltration”, he added.
He demanded Rs 20 lakh compensation for the families, who lost their kin in the cross border firing. Apart from this, he also demanded Rs 10 lakh to the people, who got handicapped in the firing from Pakistan side and Rs 2 lakh for those, who received injuries.
He also appealed to the Government for allotment of 5 marla plots or preferably one room tenement set at safer zones, 20 per cent reservation in paramilitary forces and JKP, special recruitment drive for youth residing in border areas, provision of special reservation for the people living within 8 kilometers, establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Sub District Hospitals at all towns of border areas with blood bank facilities, insurance cover for inhabitants, live stock and crops.
He also asked the Government to redress the problems being faced by PoJK refugees.
