KATHUA, Oct 15: With a mission to accomplish the target of improving the lifestyle of the BPL (Below Poverty Line) families, BJP MLA from Kathua constituency, Rajiv Jasrotia, today distributed free LPG connections to the women beneficiaries of Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna.
The MLA was accompanied by a large number of people including local residents as well as social and political activists of the area. Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that the initiative, in line with creating smokeless villages across the country, has come as a moment of pride for the women in BPL households for getting LPG connection as an identity of their own and to lead a smoke-free, less polluted, convenient and healthy life.
Under the scheme, the enrolment of the BPL families have been made constituency wise all over the State and the deserving people shall be given free LPG connections along with a gas stove and a regulator.
Providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas, he said, adding that this measure will empower women and protect their health by reducing the labour and time spent on cooking.
Adding further MLA said that it is indeed a great initiative taken up by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which today has resulted into benefitting over five crore families across the nation. He said the humanitarian view of our Prime Minister has led to this vision which has resulted into improvement of life style of majority of BPL families in India.
He said that in the coming days people belonging to BPL families in Kathua constituency will be traced ward wise, a list of women will be prepared so that the benefit of ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ could also be given to them.
Throwing light on other schemes of Modi Government as well, Jasrotia stated that today dozens of schemes of Central Government are available for common man and BJP has made it a prerogative that every needy person gets benefit of these schemes.
