KATHUA, Apr 14: In a significant push towards strengthening rural infrastructure and connectivity, BJP MLA Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia, today inaugurated multiple development works and dedicated a major road project to the public, while expressing heartfelt gratitude to Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh for his consistent support, guidance, and visionary leadership in addressing the genuine demands of the people.
The inaugurated works included the construction of a 46.8-metre LSB/vented causeway at RD 300 to Bakhta via Mangloor, a 27-metre LSB/vented causeway at RD 575 Km 5th to Bakhta via Mangloor, and a 33.60-metre LSB/vented causeway at RD 275 Km 6th on road Bakhta via Mangloor. These projects, executed along with blacktopping, have been completed at a total cost of Rs 528.48 lakh.
On the occasion, the MLA also dedicated the PMGSY road from Bakhta to Mangloor, making total cost of project at Rs 29 crore, marking a major milestone in enhancing road connectivity in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Jasrotia emphasized that these projects will significantly ease transportation, ensure all-weather connectivity, and improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets for the residents of remote and rural areas. He noted that better road infrastructure will also boost local economic activities, benefiting farmers, traders, and small businesses.
Elaborating on the broader impact, the MLA stated that the newly constructed causeways will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted connectivity during rainy seasons, when earlier the villages would often face isolation due to overflowing nallahs. With the construction of vented causeways, the risk of disruption has been minimized, ensuring safer and smoother movement of people, goods, and emergency services throughout the year.
He further highlighted that improved road connectivity will open new avenues for agricultural growth, enabling farmers to transport their produce to markets more efficiently and at reduced costs, thereby increasing their income potential. The better road network is also expected to encourage small-scale industries, enhance tourism prospects in nearby areas, and generate employment opportunities for local youth.
Highlighting the role of Dr Jitendra Singh, the MLA said that the Union Minister has always remained at the forefront in extending every possible help whenever genuine issues are brought to his notice. “Dr Jitendra Singh’s commitment, accessibility, and clear vision for holistic development have been instrumental in fast-tracking such projects in our constituency,” he said.
