Janipur flood victim dies, death toll 3

JAMMU, July 29: A young auto-rikshaw driver who was seriously injured during flood in Excelsior Lane at Janipur on Wednesday, passed away in GMC Hospital here this afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi Kumar Sharma (32), son of Late Rattan Lal Sharma, resident of Janipur, Jammu. He succumbed to his injuries in GMC, Hospital Jammu today.
Ravi was seriously injured when he tried to save his auto-rikshaw, which was flowing down with the flood. With serious injuries on his legs. He was rushed to Sarwal Hospital and then referred to GMC Hospital at Bakshi Nagar. He had 17 stitches on his upper portion of the leg. The doctors sent him to home after treatment. But his bleeding from the leg continued. Today, he complained of pain in stomach and was rushed to GMC. Due to lack of proper care and negligence on the part of Hospital staff, he died in the hospital this afternoon.
The family members alleged that Ravi, who was the only earning hand in the family has died due to negligence of the part of doctors. They demanded action in this regard. Ravi was going to be married next month. The District Administration has yet to announce any ex-gratia /relief in favour of the family.
It may be recalled that two minor girls died after they were washed away in flood in Excelsior Lane, Janipur on Wednesday. Ravi was injured seriously while saving his washing away auto-rikshaw in flood.
