Jammu, July 29: Hundreds of employees under the banner of All Migrant Employees Association, Kashmir (AMEAK) continued their protest on the 15th day here at Relief Commissioner’s Office in support of their demands. The employees have also displayed photo exhibition depicting damage to their residential quarters, vehicles and other property due to stone-pelting.
Making a scathing attack on both State and Centre Government of its harsh attitude towards the employees after they have left Valley in wake of mob violence, the protesting employees including women have criticised the Governments of being non-serious and weak in addressing issues of employees.
Amid loud sloganeering of “we want justice, Kashmiri Pandit bali ka bakra, nahein bane ga, nahein bane ga, bhart mata ki jay, State administration hosh ma avow, hosh ma avow, inqulab zindabad, zindabad etc,” these employees throughout the day were also seen appealing Centre for its immediate intervention in the matter to provide them sort of relief.
The body of employees have further made it clear that their struggle is not against any community or religion but for their survival and existence, which should be addressed by the government. “We believe in communal harmony and integrity of the country and there is no question of compromising over it,” said one of the core committee members, Rakesh Pandita, while addressing employees. He further stressed up on the employees to show unity at this vital time.
Another member, Kamal Pandit, said that “it is very unfortunate that so far no nodal officer has been deputed by the Government to mark our attendance despite the matter was brought into notice of BJP- four member committee and officials.” “This is very sad that no one is listening to us and the reason for that may be we are protesting peacefully,” he added.
These employees were demanding their adjustment in migrant cells of various departments of Jammu after anti-social elements attacked their colonies at many places during the violence. These employees have warned the Government that in case their demand has not been accepted very soon, then they will be forced to take some extreme steps.
