KATRA, Apr 11: Pahelwan Ishaq (Lalu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu lifted 61st Moori Kesari 2016 title by defeating Wrestler Gurpej of Amritsar in a very tough fight that lasted for 24 minutes at Middle School Moori, near here.
Dangal was organized by Peer Baba Dangal Committee Moori in Association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Romesh Chander.
Mr Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, who is also treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and president Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra was the chief guest who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Retired SP and treasurer J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Prithvi Raj Sharma presided over the function, while general secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Social Activist and Wrestling promoter, Ram Paul Sharma were the guests of honour.
Sarpanch Jagdish Sharma, Sapanch Rattan Singh and Sarpanch Romesh Chander were also present on the occasion.
In all 59 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal. Mr Sharma gave Rs 9,000 as cash prize to the winner of 1st malli, Pahelwan Ishaq (Lalu), while Rs 6,000 was given to the runners-up Wrestler Gurpej by Sarpanch Romesh Chander and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
