Jammu West wins State Korfball Championship

JAMMU, Jan 17: Outplaying Jammu South in an exciting contest by nine goals to eight (9-8), Jammu West lifted the title trophy of the 15th Bhai Gurbux Singh Memorial State Korfball Championship 2017-18 which concluded here today.
Earlier, Jammu West was down by 2-4 at half time, however, in the second half, Jammu West came back strongly and scored 7 goals while Jammu South scores only 4 goals.
For Jammu West, skipper Mohit Singh Bhau scored 5 goals and Vasharan scored 2 goals, while for Jammu South, Basu scored 4 goals and Usman scored 2 goals.
Pulwama got third place beating Shopian by 7-1.From Pulwama, Gulzar scored 3 goals.
Earliar, in the semifinals, Jammu West beat Pulwama by 18-8 and Jammu South drubbed Shopian by 12-4.
Tarlok Singh, President J&K Korfball Association, Manjeet Singh, RK Sharma, Secretaries and Gulzar Ahmed, Joint Secretary were present on the occasion to witness the final match.
Finally, the office bearers of the association distributed medals and trophies among the winners and runner-up teams.
