JAMMU, Feb 19: Dr Liaqat Jafri, Assistant Professor, MAM College Jammu and a young Urdu poet has given lyrics to leading Bollywood film “The Attacks of 26/11’’.
“The Attacks of 26/11’’ an upcoming Indian Crime thriller movie based on the 2008 Mumbai attacks has been directed by prominent film maker of India Ram Gopal Verma. The lead actors of the Movie are Nana Patekar, Atul Kulkarni, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Ganesh Yadav etc. The film is slated to have a world wide release on March 1 this year.
Dr Jafri who hails from Poonch city and presently settled at Jammu shares the lyrics with two other writers Rashid Iqbal and Kalgi Thakur.
Dr Javed while talking to Excelsior said that it was just an incident that I have uploaded an Urdu Nazam in my voice titled “ A Tribute to Taaj Episode’’ on Youtube, supported with some audio visual clippings of 26/11. The music director of the film Vishal Khosla had seen this video on Youtube and mailed me to contribute this lyrics to their filmThe Attacks of 26/11 and I agreed to it’’, he added.
Dr Jafri, who later visited Mumbai in the second week of January said it was honour for him and his home town Poonch that his poetry was chosen by a top Director of Indian feature film. Dr Jafri has so far written half a dozen books in Urdu and contributed number of research articles to national and international journals. He was also appointed as first convener of Urdu Committee constituted by the State Government to suggest measures regarding promotion of Urdu language in the State.
