JAMMU, Jan 30: Winning 29 medals including a silver in Ultratech Cement Amritsar Half Marathon, Jammu Runners Group (JRG) again blossomed and took its medal tally to a total of 102 medals while participating in various Marathons/Half Marathons held across the Country.
JRG has the distinction of claiming 47 medals in Virtual Marathon India, 16 medals in Delhi Airtel Half Marathon, 14 in Tata Mumbai Marathon and 29 in Amritsar Half Marathon.
26,000 runners took part in prestigious Amritsar Half Marathon.
The highlight of Amritsar Half Marathon was that Rajesh Padha, the leader and inspirer of JRG became the first pacer for 10 kilometers from the State to pace the runners to finish the race right in time, while Kanu Priya, the ace runner of the Group got second rank to clinch silver medal in 10 kilometers.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rajesh Padha and Dilawar Khan were named brand ambassadors by the organizers in the Sumo Run held in Jammu earlier.
Those who got medals in 10 kilometers run in Amritsar Half Marathon included Sachin Deo Singh of HDFC Bank, Abhishek, Nakul Saraf, Akash Gupta, Vikram Garg, Sajjan Kumar, Varun Magotra, Chandan Gupta, Dr Vivek Sharma, Sanjay Saine, Rajeshwar, Kanu Priya, Kuljeet Kour, Pritam Kumar and Bhawnish Sharma.
Mukesh Kumar got the best timing in Half Marathon, while Rakesh Kumar, Bhupesh Gupta, Lucky Manhas, Bharat Bhushan, Deepak Kohli, Vinod Padha, Ashrey Chopra, Gurnam Singh, Sindhu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar and Minkle bagged medals.
Expressing satisfaction on performance of the Group, Mr Padha said that it is the sheer-dint of hard work, dedication and mental toughness of the runners which has guided them to achieve such a big target.
