KARGIL, Jan 30: Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor Kargil Advocate Muhammad Amir has emphasized the importance of sports and physical activities and the crucial linkages between these for good health.
The CEC stated this while addressing the final ceremony of Lets Play Football Tournament organized under Khelo India Scheme at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Kargil here today.
Advisor to CEC Kargil Haji Muhammad Shafi, Chief Education Officer Kargil, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil besides a number of officers from the District Administration, coaches, managers and players were present on the occasion.
While underlining the importance and power of sports and games besides the important role it plays in enhancing physical and mental alertness Amir said that the more physically active we are, the healthier we remain.
The CEC complimented the organizers for having conducted the tournament despite sub zero temperature conditions.
Meanwhile in the final match FC Poyen beat UFC Goma Kargil by 2 goals to clinch the title.
The 4-day tournament organized under the overall supervision of the Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil saw the participation of around 600 student and non student players comprising of 56 teams across the district.
Later the CEC and other guests distributed mementos and prizes among the winner and runner up teams under different age groups.
