Jammu ropeway agreement signed, work to start soon

SRINAGAR, May 26: The J&K State Cable Car Corporation has entered into agreement with M/s Damodar Ropeway & Infra Ltd, Kolkatta in association with STM, Turkey for design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a passenger ropeway system from Mubarak Mandi to Bahu Fort near Shahabad.
The agreement was signed at SKICC, Srinagar in the presence of Tourism Minister G A Mir, MoS Tourism, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, Zaffar Ahmad Bhat, Secretary Tourism Department, Soujanya Sharma, Director, Tourism, Jammu and the officers of J&K State Cable Car Corporation.
On behalf of J&K State Cable Car Corporation Ltd, the agreement was signed by Tufail Matto, Managing Director of the Corporation and Ranjan Mukherjee, Executive Director signed the agreement on behalf of M/s Damodar Ropeway & Infra Ltd, Kolkatta.
The project will be executed in two sections. Section-I from Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya (1117 mtrs. length) which will be a monocable detachable System and Section-II from Mubarak Mandi to Bahu Fort near Shahabad (453 mtrs length) will be a monocable pulsated system. The planning/design work on the project will start from 1st June and the project is likely to be completed in 30 months.
The project will be unique in Jammu province and is expected to increase tourist arrivals in Jammu city to a great extent.
