Jammu Police holds drug awareness rally in Miran Sahib

JAMMU, Mar 28: District Police Jammu organised a debate competition cum Nukkad Natak, signature campaign and drug awareness rally to spread awareness on drug abuse. Ramnish Gupta, SP Headquarters Jammu was the chief guest and BDC Chairman Daleep Kumar and Surinder Singh, SDPO RS Pura were present.
Ramnish Gupta in his speech, drew the attention of all the students to the widespread menace of the drug addiction and its negative and ill effects on mental and physical growth of body, social life and family life as they are the future of country. Resource person Dr. Shahnaz shared various reasons for people resorting to drugs viz peer pressure, relief from stress, Increase energy, recreational purpose and status in the society etc. He also explained about how drug affects our body, social life and family life. He gave the students tips on the harmful effects of drugs.
BDC Chairman Daleep Kumar briefed about their roles and responsibilities to prevent the students from drug addiction.
Over 300 students were present in the programme and about 23 students participated in the debate competition from 11 different Schools. 1st prize was won by Sonam Tanima (class 9th) of Pragmatic Institute of Education with cash reward of Rs 2000/- , 2nd price went to Pushbinder Kour (Class 10th) of Stephens International Public School Kullian with cash reward of Rs 1500/-. 3rd prize was secured by Niharika Rani (Class 8th) of Sun Shine Public School Langotian with cash reward of Rs 1000/- respectively, Nukkad Natak was performed by Ajit Nukkad Natak company and they were felicitated with cash reward of rupees 9000/-
Dr. Ritesh Kumar ( Assistant professor AIIMS Jammu), Dr. Ragul Ganesh R (Assistant professor AIIMS Jammu) and Anju Sharma ( Head Master Police Public School Miran Sahib) were the jury members of the programme.
Dr. Shahnaz (Resource person) along with Assistant Professors from AIIMS were also the guest speaker of the programme.
