Jammu migrants not covered under PM’s package

SRINAGAR, June 8:  Government today said the migrants of Jammu region who had migrated in wake of militancy from their respective areas have not been covered under Prime Minister’s Package for Return and Rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants.
This information was given by Minister Incharge Relief and Rehabilitation in reply to a question of MLC Vibodh Gupta in Upper House. He said a total of 5180 souls have been registered from Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
“There is presently no move for fresh registration of migrants of Jammu region,” said the Minister. He however added that State Government has already issued orders regarding payment of cash assistance and ration to registered migrants of hilly areas of Jammu region at par with Kashmiri migrants with effect from of November 18, 2015.
