Jammu is not Jammu city

Sir,
After Narendra Modi became  Prime Minister of the country and the BJP and PDP coalition Government came into power in Jammu and Kashmir the State has been experiencing an incessant rain of packages to the tune of lacs and crores of rupees for multipronged, equitable and inclusive development of the State. In order to raise the academic standard and take the professional education to the portals of the aspiring youth of  the State, the Indian Government didn’t spare any effort to grant the prestigious institutes like IIT, IIM, AIIMS, GMC, Ayurvedic Medical and engineering colleges for all the three regions of the State. But the Jammu centred politics of the region, instead of giving due share to the different deserving towns of the Jammu region, focused on the 60 Kms of NH-1A from Lakhanpur to Akhnoor for establishing the national level prestigious institutions. The reasons behind their preference is quite obvious. All the powerfull and influential politicians responsible for the judicious distribution of these institutions, reside in  the proximity of the highway.
It looks funny how the Jammu based politicians selected Akhnoor, 20 Kms from Jammu, for Ayurvedic Medical College, Jammu for IIT, IIM, GMC, Superspeciality, Vijaypur, 20 Kms from Jammu, for AIIMS, Kathua, 40 Kms from Vijaypur on the same Jammu Kathua highway, for GMC and Engineering College (Janglot). The entire 60 Kms length has been selected for this purpose when these could be evenly distributed  in the Jammu region. For instance Ayurvedic college could be established at the seat of Ayurveda, Basohli.  The engineering and other institutes could  be established in any district of the Jammu region. The entire region is spread over 14 districts which  the selfish politicians have shrunk to 60 Kms of NH-1A. The State Government should realise that the whole Jammu region doesn’t mean few Kms of NH-1A instead they should ensure equitable and not the selective development of the region which the people have been aspiring since decades.
