Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling C’ship concludes

KATRA, Dec 4: Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling Championship was organized by Jammu District Indian Style Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and under the banner of J&K State Sports Council was concluded at Bana Singh Sports Stadium R.S Pura, here.
The Championship was held under the overall supervision of Chairman J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Prem Choudhary who is a qualified NIS Wrestling coach and Bansi Lal Tidyal, General Secretary State Association.
In this Championship, 52 wrestlers from various Tehsils and Akharas participated in seven weight categories of 50 Kg, 55 Kg, 61 Kg, 67 Kg, 75 Kg, 85 Kg and 96 Kg up to 120 Kg.
Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Jammu, Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who presented Medals, Certificates to the winners and runners-up wrestlers in presence of guest of honour, Incharge / Manager Bana Singh Sports Stadium, RS Pura, coach Baljinder Singh.
Bansi Lal Tidyal conducted the proceedings of the event, while welcome address was presented by Prem Choudhary and vote of thanks was presented by retired SP Prithvi Raj Sharma.
The bouts were officiated by Balkar Singh Pahelwan, Kundan Pahelwan, Prem Kumar, Surinder Kumar and Sarpanch Rehmat Ali.
Shiv Kumar in his speech advocated for promotion of wrestling in nooks and corners of the State.
