JAMMU, Feb 19: Election of the President of Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, will be held on March 22 and March 7 is the last date for filing the nominations.
The nomination forms for the post of President shall be made available in the office of the Election Commissioner with effect from February 20 from 11 am to 5 pm on all the working days.
This was informed by Yash Paul Gupta, Election Commissioner, while addressing a press conference along with Rattan Lal Gupta Advocate and Shiv Partap Gupta (members of Election Commission), here today.
“The candidates who intend to contest the said election must fulfill all the conditions laid down in the Constitution of the Sabha, which have also been reproduced in the notification issued by this office on February 17,” said Yash Paul Gupta while listing required qualifications of the candidate, who must be member of the Mahajan Sabha at least for the last five year and not worked as President of the Sabha for two consecutive terms of two years, each preceding the current election.
While giving more details about the election, Gupta said that name of the candidate shall be proposed and supported by two separate persons who are the election delegates from any Ward of the Sabha. The nomination forms shall be received upto March 7 and will be opened on March 8 for scrutiny on March 9 while last date for withdrawal of nomination forms will be March 11, he added and particularly mentioned that photo identity card is required at the time of voting, which shall be held from 10 am to 3 pm at Mahajan Bhawan, Shalamar Road Jammu.
