JAMMU, June 18: All Jammu based reserved category employees posted in Kashmir held strong protest demonstration at Panama Chowk here today.
The employees hailing from Jammu under the banner of All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association Kashmir assembled near Panama Chowk. They were raising slogans demanding transfer to Jammu and early redressal of their genuine demands and grievances.
The protest and strike of these employees entered 17th consecutive day today. In scorching heat, they are sitting in the open sky under blazing sun. Hundreds of employees from various departments participated regardless of gender, age and region.
The Association lauded the decision of the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir headed by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha of transfer Raj Kumar, husband of teacher Rajni Bala, from district Kulgam to district Samba at suitable place. An order dated 16-06-2022 has been issued in this regard by the Principal Secretary, School Education Department. With the issuance of the said order, the employees are optimistic for the early redressal of their genuine demands and grievances.
Huge participation of female employees was also seen today, while some carrying their dependent siblings, raising slogans were demanding transfer to Jammu and framing of the Transfer Policy in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, one of the employee namely Geeta Devi, who happens to be a teacher posted in Kashmir Valley fainted during the peaceful protest at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu. She was immediately rushed to Gandhi Nagar Hospital, where she was provided treatment, kept under observation for few hours and later discharged after recovery.
Just few days after the protest which commenced on 1st of June, 2022, when the employees tried to install and raise the tent for the sake of shade, the police immediately stopped them to do so.
Many social organisations have started coming forward in favour of the employees. State president, Barwal Sabha JK UT, Capt Biru Ram Radhe addressed the huge gathering of employees and extended his full support. Sat Pal Bavouria (Retd KAS) , encouraged the employees through his inspirational speech.
