JAMMU, Sept 22: The District administration Jammu has constituted a high level committee for the implementation of National Rurban Mission programmes in the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, constituted the committee at a meeting of line departments held here today.
The committee named as District Project Management Unit (DPMU) comprises ADDC, Director Economic and Reconstruction Agency(ERA), Additional Mission Director, NRLM, Chief Town Planner, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Statistics and Evolution Officer and representative of the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS, University of Jammu.
The DC, while deliberating on the National Rurban Mission, said its objectives is to spur social, economic and infrastructural development in rural areas by developing a cluster of 300 smart villages over the next 3 years across the country i.e. 100 every year.
It was informed that under the mission three villages have been selected for development in Jammu and Kashmir which include Gole-Gujral in Jammu district.
The DC stressed upon the members of the committee to keep themselves abreast about guidelines of the Mission which includes adoption of framework of implementation as per timeline, coordination with implementing departments/agencies for ensuring notification of planning areas and related spatial planning matters, convergence of schemes planned in the Integrated Cluster Action Plan (ICAP), coordination with the State Technical Support Agency for ICAP preparation, coordination with the State Project Management Unit for performance monitoring and reporting on the Rurban clusters and sensitization and involvement of all the stakeholders at every stage of process of planning, implementation and monitoring.
The DC also directed the concerned officers to immediately form a Whatsapp group and e-mail ID of the committee members for sharing the information regarding the working of the committee.
