JAKASI holds operative workshop at Bhaderwah

JAMMU, May 14: An operative workshop was held at SDH Bhaderwah under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI). This was the first of its kind workshop to be held in Bhaderwah. The idea of holding this workshop was to impart training to local Directorate of Health Services of SDH Bhaderwah where the equipment is same as is available in AIIMS New Delhi and in GMC Jammu.
During the camp laparoscopic operations were performed on four patients by Dr Tariq Azad (Prof of Surgery GMC Jammu) and Dr R K Chrungoo, Prof of Surgery ASCOMS, Jammu. Dr Satish Badyal, senior Consultant of Anesthesia, GMC Jammu induced anesthesia to the patients while Davinder Rathore, senior Theatre Technician, GMC Jammu assisted the procedures. The BMO, Bhadarwah, Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, Dr Shahid Moghal, State Programme Officer Non Communicable Diseases Jammu provided all logistic support to the doctors.
The organization which was scheduled to hold multi specialty camp and operative workshop on May 18 and 19 has postponed the same due to frequent earthquakes in the area.
