Jaitley launches SASEC vision document for growth

NEW DELHI :  In an effort to scale economic growth in the sub-region, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today launched the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Vision document, outlining the roadmap for economic growth and connectivity in the region.
The event also witnessed finance ministers of Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka joining in the launch of  the South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Vision Document here.
Mr Jaitley welcomed Myanmar as the newest member of the initiative.Myanmar has joined the SASEC programme as its seventh member.
After its launch, the member countries will deliver Joint Ministerial statement. The event is an opportunity for the members to discuss and exchange ideas and strive to foster better cooperation in the sub-region. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jaitley welcomed Mynamar and highlighted the crucial role of the Asian development bank in strengthening SASEC.
The ADB is supporting the SASEC initiative.  Earlier, Secretary Department of Economic Affairs Shaktikanta Das delivered the welcome address. (AGENCIES)
