Jagti Migrants delegation calls on Bakaya discusses problems

JAMMU, July 12: A deputation of Migrants from Jagti met MLC and former Chief Secretary, Vijay Bakaya here today and apprised him of various problems being faced by them.
The delegation informed the NC leader about the acute shortage of drinking water in the township and long duration power cuts which has made the life of people miserable especially old and infirm.
The delegation also requested Mr Bakaya for opening of a Police Post in the Jagti township by taking up the issue with concerned authorities.
Mr Bakaya took up the issue with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R K Pandita and urged him to redress the grievances of the inmates of the township on priority basis as power and water crisis has added to the woes of people in this hot and humid temperature.
Mr Pandita assured Mr Bakaya that necessary steps will be taken to solve the problems.
Bakaya informed the delegation that Government led by Omar Abdullah is keen to resettle the Pandits back in Valley and in this connection a revised package has been sent to Central Government for approval. He said that migrants will return after they are convinced that the situation is conducive for the same. Some members of the NC Minority Cell were also present in the meeting.
