JAMMU, July 12: Directorate of Economics and Statistics organized two day workshop for training 69th round NSS trainers. This round would cover drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and housing conditions- the sectors directly linked with overall improvement in the quality of life.
The main objective of the survey is to obtain reliable data on drinking water sanitation, hygiene, housing condition and survey of slums which are very useful for Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty alleviation, Planning Commission of India and planning and policy formulation of various Central Ministries State Government and civil society.
On the occasion, Director Economics and Statistics, B R Lachotra briefed about various contours of the survey, besides the need for capturing data on various statistical indicators of the survey.
Rajni Charak, Regional Joint Director, Evaluation and Statistics also spoke on the occasion.
The workshop was also attended by the Deputy Director General, NSSO ( FOD) Sher Singh, Director NSSO Kishore Kumar, who clarified various methodology and definitions given in the instructions for conducting survey for generating quality data on the subject.
Joint Director Evaluation Directorate of Economics and Statistics Veena Thappar, DD STS Jammu, Sushila Manhas and DSEO, Jammu Raj Kumari were among others participated in the workshop.
