KATHUA, Mar 11: The 10-day voter awareness campaign “Jaago Jagao, Farz Nibhao” under Systematically Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), an initiative of District Election Office culminated today .
On the concluding day of the campaign, a grand function was held in Ramlila Ground Kathua where District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua Jitendra K Singh inaugurated the function. ADDC Kathua Narinder Singh Bali, SSP Kathua Mohan Lal, ACR Kathua S.P Rukwal and Tehsildar Kathua Jatinder Mishra were also present on the occasion.
As many as 25 stalls set up by various Government Departments were installed who gave detail account of the schemes to the visitors. DEO while inspecting the stalls impressed upon the departments to motivate the youth so that they can avail self employed opportunities under State and Centrally sponsored schemes.
While speaking on the occasion, District Election Officer also called upon the need to involve all the stakeholders of the society for maximum participation in upcoming Lok Sabha election especially new voters. He appealed the people to participate in the elections and motivate others to use their right to franchise.
On the occasion, a sufiana songs by popular sufi artist Balbir Veera of Pathankot enthralled the audience. The stage show “Kharishain” by renowned artist from J&K cultural academy Jammu also made a lasting impression on the audience who gave round of applause to the artists. Dogri and Punjabi songs performances by the local artists Dilsher, Kapil Thappa, Jatinder Khajuria, Vijay Sharma, Rakesh and Lovely were also appreciated and lauded by the gathering.
