JA held for taking bribe

SRINAGAR, Jan 14: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today caught red handed a junior assistant while demanding and accepting bribe.
An SVO official said that, Mohd Shafi Bhat lodged a complaint stating therein that he has retired from Government services as mechanical operator in the month of July 2012. He added that his sixth pay commission arrears were pending with the office of the Mechanical Division LAWDA, Srinagar.
The complainant said that the concerned dealing hand was demanding Rs 5,000 for preparing and processing the 6th pay commission arrears bill, spokesman added.
On the basis of complaint, a case under FIR number 2/13 under Section 5(2) PC ACT r/w Section 161 RPC was registered and investigation started, he added.
During investigation, SVO laid a trap and caught junior assistant Bashir Ahmed Wani, son of Mohd Ibrahim Wani of Gazidora Alamgri Bazaar, red handed while accepting Rs 5,000 bribe money from the complainant, he said.
The tainted bribe money was recovered and the accused was taken into custody for further investigations, he said.
