JAMMU, Mar 15: On the directions of R N Sahay, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K Circle, Rajesh Gupta president, Jammu Fruit Association (Regd) organized a public awareness camp at Fruit Mandi, Narwal, here today.
SK Sharma, Additional Commissioner J&K Circle was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, SK Sharma, enlightened the gathering about the role of the taxpayers in the building of the nation and stated that paying taxes honestly is the biggest symbol of patriotism in itself.
He requested to promote tax awareness among the non- tax payers considering it as their social responsibility. He also asked the members to file their last two years returns before March 31, 2018 as the Income Tax Laws have changed now.
The Income Tax Department also sensitized the gathering about the liberal functioning of the Income Tax Department and stated that the declaration made by the tax payers in their Income Tax Returns are accepted without questioning and without demanding any proofs/ documents.
During Interactive session, members of the Association clarified their doubts.
Prominent among those present were Anita Thusu, ITO 1(3) Sanjay Kumar ITO 1(1), Rupesh Kumar Inspector Ward 1(3), Rajesh Koul Inspector 1(1) Om Parkash Sahni, general secretary Jammu Fruit Association and other senior members of the Association.
